Perl is like modern Latin: Primitive, hard to use, extended for use in the modern world.
PHP is like English: Cobbled together but easier than Latin.
As long as we're on the subject...
Python is like Esperanto: Wonderful in theory but very few people actually use it.

So, Michael Jackson is dead. And I understand that news programs want to show clips from his most famous videos, but... Come on, Thriller?
The man is dead, and they're showing a movie clip of him dancing around as a re-animated corpse.
That's just a bit disrespectful, don't you think?

A lot of people say that Internet Explorer sucks, and they're right. But they miss the point that Firefox sucks also. Which, honestly, would not be a problem, except that IE and Firefox suck in different ways. It's those differences that make webdesign frustrating.

The brushfires in Australia have killed nearly 200 people and destroyed hundreds of homes... yet in the first few days they were burning, no major US news outlets reported it.
This isn't the first time the news in the US has majorly dropped the ball. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, CNN spent three days reporting that things were "not that bad" for the city or its survivors. It wasn't until I found the blog of one of the survivors that I learned the truth: Things were much, much worse than what the news had reported. In fact, New Orleans was in a state which many people believed could simply never happen in the US: There was no government, and the people were on their own.
I learned two things from Katrina: One, the unthinkable can happen. And two, don't rely on major news sources for news.
Since then, I've gotten into the habit of crawling the internet for news. Instead of just checking the major news sites, I hunt around. But that involves doing a lot of work, so I'm not able to if I'm really busy. If I didn't have friends in Australia, I wouldn't have known about the brushfires.
The bottom line is: Don't rely on the major news outlets to tell you what's really going on. Hunt around. You may be surprized at what you find.

Firefox has a built-in spell checker (Yay!)
But it doesn't know the word "webcomic" (Boo!)
I can't figure this out at all. Firefox. It's a web browser. And they don't know about webcomics. It's like a car manufacturer being unaware of motorcycles. Does anyone at Mozilla actually go on the internet? Or are they one of these "we just build it, we don't use it" kind of companies?

My old blog consisted of messages left on forums all over the internet. Perhaps you've read parts of it.
